»This particular journal is new, but I am not. So rest assured, I'm not an obnoxious newbie or troll here to ruin your day. Just someone who wanted a change and didn't want to pay for it.
»I don't tend to add people right off the bat, but it's rarely anything personal. There will be people who I don't care for, but you have no reason to think you're one of them just because I didn't add you. There's a good chance that I just need to know you. But if we've pleasantly crossed paths a few times, go for it! Basically, I love talking to people online, but I don't like adding people I barely know until I can't keep them straight. (Also, if you add me, tell me! I like to know what's going on.)
»I'm pretty easy to get along with, but if you're of the bossy/judgy type, or like making fun of people's hobbies (in a way that goes beyond affectionately razzing one another now and then, that I'm fine with), or generally act like a busybody who nitpicks others' lives, then that will likely cause friction, and be a waste of time and energy for all involved.
»I tend to ramble. I'm trying to make shorter, frequent entries as opposed to trying to cram a bunch of stuff in to one big one, but I tend to be sort of wordy by nature.
»I'm very... Not squeamish. I sometimes have trouble remembering to allow for different squeamishness thresholds. Did I mention that my interests include biology, medical history, and watching sci-horror splatter films? I haven't had trouble with this in the past, but I can see how it could end... Badly. Keep in mind that this in no way means I couldn't get along with someone who squicks more easily than I! I'm just putting the information out there to open communication that will remind me to put up warnings and remind you to heed them.
»I tend to post lots of images, so people on slow connections should plan accordingly. Luckily, this isn't as much of a problem now as it was in the past, but I know dialup users are still out there. For what it's worth, my own desire for tidiness makes me excellent about putting things behind a cut.
»And finally... Maybe you're here because I said something terribly obtuse. I tend to do that from time to time. I know that I can be blunt, but I rarely have any aggressive or malicious intent, unless I happen to be in the kind of screaming e-argument that I avoid like the plague. I have no problem with being corrected (if actually shown to be wrong) or apologizing, so it's pretty easy to clear things with me. Generally, I don't like conflict and try to be as civil as possible, but we all have our lapses. So yes, I'm kind of a bulldozer, but I do not bite!
